Brief Description
We planned on hosting foremost Rwanda Blockchain Workshop, 2023. It is a 3-day workshop on the implementation of Blockchain Technology across government and business services in the country. Participants at workshop include government officials, entrepreneurs, investors, and individuals interested in learning more about blockchain technology. The workshop will feature presentations from experts in the field who can discuss the technology’s potential uses and share success stories from other countries that have embraced blockchain technology. Overall, the workshop will help showcase the country’s commitment to innovation and attract investment and talent to the region.

Detailed Description
Background:
Blockchain technology is rapidly evolving and has the potential to revolutionize various industries, including finance, healthcare, supply chain, and more. Rwanda, a country known for its impressive technological advancements, has recognized the potential of blockchain and is keen to leverage it for its socio-economic development. However, there is a lack of awareness and expertise on the subject among local businesses, entrepreneurs, and policymakers. Therefore, hosting the foremost Rwanda Blockchain Workshop can create a platform to increase knowledge and drive innovation, supported by UMA.

Objectives:
The primary objective of the Workshop is to provide a comprehensive understanding of blockchain technology through UMA, its applications, and potential impact on various sectors. The workshop aims to:

  1. Educate participants on the basics of blockchain technology, including the underlying concepts, terminology, and functionalities.
  2. Showcase real-world examples of blockchain implementation and its impact on businesses and society.
  3. Discuss the regulatory framework and legal implications of blockchain technology in Rwanda.
  4. Highlight the potential for innovation and entrepreneurship in the blockchain space.

Workshop Structure:
The Workshop will be a three-day event, featuring a mix of keynote presentations, panel discussions, interactive sessions, and hands-on workshops. The structure will include the following components:
a. Keynote sessions: Renowned blockchain experts will deliver keynote speeches to provide an overview of blockchain technology, its evolution, and its impact on various sectors.
b. Panel discussions: Panels comprising industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers will discuss topics such as blockchain adoption challenges, regulatory frameworks, investment opportunities, and social impact.
c. Case studies and best practices: Experts will present successful blockchain use cases and share best practices from different industries, focusing on their relevance to Rwanda and the African continent.
d. Interactive sessions and workshops: Participants will engage in interactive sessions and hands-on workshops to gain practical knowledge about blockchain implementation, smart contracts, decentralized applications (DApps), and blockchain security.
e. Networking sessions: Scheduled breaks and social events will provide participants with ample networking opportunities to exchange ideas, build relationships, and explore potential collaborations.

Target Audience:
The workshop targets entrepreneurs, policymakers, industry experts, blockchain enthusiasts, and students interested in learning about blockchain technology, via UMA. The workshop is open to participants from various sectors, including finance, healthcare, supply chain, and more.

Expected Outcomes:
The Workshop aims to achieve several outcomes, including increased awareness and understanding of blockchain technology among participants, policymakers, and stakeholders in Rwanda, identification of blockchain use cases and opportunities tailored to the Rwandan context, enhanced collaboration and partnerships among local and international participants for the development of blockchain projects, policy recommendations for creating a favorable regulatory environment for blockchain adoption and innovation, and creation of a vibrant blockchain community in Rwanda.
